Results are out for the pre-selected works for this year’s UA Members exhibition at the Bankside Gallery on the South Bank. I’m really pleased to have four pictures which will be in this years exhibition space permitting.

The Lambeth Open is coming up fast and it’s keeping me busy preparing some new paintings for the event as well as sorting out prints and cards. Again I plan to take a mix of Croydon and non Croydon paintings including a couple of new paintings inspired by this year’s rainy London Pride.
I’m rely looking forward to showing in a new venue and meeting lots of new artists. The work showing on the online gallery is wonderful in its variety always a good sign in my opinion. One of the great things about taking part in events like this is to meet all the other artists and find out how they approach their work.
I’m a bit sad though to be missing the chance of visiting all the studios which will also be open during the weekend. Peeking into someone else’s work space is always good for chatting about techniques and materials.
I will be showing at the Portico Gallery in West Norwood, 4-5th October 10am-6pm alongside a whole host of other exciting artists http://www.lambethopen.com/portico-lower-gallery/
There are also a host of artists and crafts people with open studios that weekend, take a look at http://www.lambethopen.com/ for the map and full details of all participating artists.
I’ve had a great time with my first solo show at Matthews Yard during August and it will be sad to take the pictures down and leave the space empty on Monday. It’s only empty for a few days though as artists from the Club Soda disability arts group will be setting up their show on the 8th September and if it’s half as good as the work they’ve had up at Croydon library it will be well worth seeing.
Meanwhile my remaining paintings of Croydon won’t be staying wrapped up for long, many of them will be winging their way over to the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane as I take part in my second New Artists Fair. Opening with a Friday night party on 5th September, 6-9pm, and running over the weekend it’s a great chance to see some new artistic talent.
Last year I really enjoyed Stephanie Ho with her crowds of little people in blank landscapes and Sarah Fosse looks to have great colours in her work and I can’t wait to see them for real. Tolu Magbagbeola’s work looks fascinating in the latest New Artists Fair blog entry, it’s his first show so hopefully it will be successful for him.
Friday will be a busy night and a great party but for anyone who wants a quieter look round and a chance for an in-depth chat with the artists should come on Sat or Sun 12-6pm when the crowds will be thinner.
‘Croydon on Canvas’ has one week left to run, drop in to Matthews Yard, off Surrey Street Croydon, CR0 1FF, before the 31st for a last chance to see 19 original paintings of Croydon together.
As well as original paintings there are also prints and cards available to buy. I will be at Matthews Yard on Wed 27, 12- 2pm, Friday 29th 12-2pm, Sat 30th 11am-3pm or Sun 31st 11am-3pm if you would like to buy any items. If you would like to talk to me at any other time send me a message here or on Facebook and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
During August I will be holding my first solo exhibition in the new gallery space at Matthews Yard, just off Surrey Street in Croydon. The exhibition ‘Croydon on Canvas’ will include some new pictures like ‘Dreamers Crossing’, a view of the Park Hill Water Tower from Dingwall Road as well as some old favourites like ‘Heading Home’, ‘Church Street’ and ‘Travelling’.
The exhibition will be up from the 7th to the 31stst Aug 10am to 10pm Tue to Sun.

“Cram”, “Earnest” and “Exhale” are all on show at the Sutton Open Art exhibition from the 13th to the 24th of May. It’s at the Europa Gallery in Sutton Central Library, opening times are:
9.30am – 8pm Mon to Fri
9.30am – 5pm Sat
1pm – 4.30pm Sun
This is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to show these three tramstop pictures together and there are lots of other great pictures on show as well.
I’m entering ‘Heading Home II’ and ‘Ernest’ in the next Croydon Art Society Exhibition which runs at the Croydon Clocktower Gallery from the 25th March to the 12th April. They are only likely to hang one of the two pictures so lets see which. The Clock Tower Gallery is the council run gallery which houses some of the boroughs fine art collection and the CAS will be occupying the bit set aside for temporary exhibits. It’s on the ground floor of the Clocktower Buildings but at the opposite end from the Cafe where the current exhibition is showing! Just to be confusing.
This March I will be showing work at the ‘Click-Clock Gallery’ which is part of the Clock-tower Cafe in Croydon town Center. My paintings should be in bay A which is the first bay as you come in from the street or the last bay if you come in from the library. The paintings will be up for a week from 10 March through to Sat 15th.
I’m going to focus on small canvases for this show so there should be quite a lot to see.
